The Hueck alutec office is located at Osadná and Laskomerského streets in a quiet district Bratislava Nové Mesto. With regard to the surrounding three- and four floor buildings with ga-bled roofs the design had to come with a decent dominance in the street distinguished from other buildings by its shape and construction material but not by its height. The whole archi-tectural impression is based on a fron-tal street facade and a patio facade using Hueck elements and serving as company's advertisement. The frontal facade consists of two non-collateral glass planes. The dynamic character of the building is enhanced by large protruding roof corresponding with the orientation of the first floor facade. Narrowing down towards the edges it makes an impression of a thin strip on the top. Apart from the aesthetic im-pression the role of the overlapping roof is functional too during summer it prevents the facade from excessive overheating. The terms of the com-petition asked for ecological ventila-tion and heating in the building. The bearing element of the system is a vertical recuperation wall clearly sepa-rating the original building from the new structure. As the wall has been located towards the south-west the maor part of the day it can absorb the solar energy forcing heated air to as-cend. The resulting chimney effect will exhaust air from the building. Fresh air will be taken in automatically by underpressure. In summer months the system will work without electrical energy, in winter the air heated in the accumulation wall will be pumped back into the room by electric fan. The inevitable air-conditioning equipment has been placed into the ceiling of the second floor.
The proposed layout strives after unified open space stressed by the spiral staircase in the rear of the building and situated in the axis of the building. All areas of the new stru-cture were meant for representation stres-sing the image and influencing the customer. The entrance floor houses the exhibition and in the rear there is place enough for small sanitary rooms and small storeroom. The principal layout of the second floor remained almost unchanged but a branch office has been replaced by a sample room. There is also room for small sanitary rooms or kitche-nette. A small patio and original offices can be entered from the first floor. The second floor is directly connected to the big meeting room leading to the studio. The construction system consists of steel frame 4,20 x 5,40 meter, the walls are sandwich walls, the accumulation wall has an insulation and an absorption layers added. The plate glass fa-cade as well as majority of facing materials come from the company. This design entered the anonymous students' competi-tion and it won the third place.
